Privacy Policy

Magic Mate reads your Twitch channel data to give you recommendations, a stream plan, collaboration matches, and trackable links. We collect what we need to run those features, nothing we don't. We don't sell your data. You can disconnect Twitch or delete your account at any time.

When you sign in with Twitch and use Magic Mate, we collect:

• Account details. Your Twitch identity, your display name, email address, and profile image, plus the OAuth access and refresh tokens that let us call Twitch on your behalf. Tokens are encrypted at rest.
• Channel data from Twitch. Public channel information along with follower and subscriber totals, your moderators' names and your schedule, using the permissions you grant at sign-in. We use this to build your recommendations, best times, opportunity scores, and metrics, and for your chat bot's answers when you let it.
• Your setup. The profile you create in Magic Mate, your companion and theme choices, the categories you stream, your broadcast language, your audience-size baseline, and your weekly schedule windows.
• Collaboration data. Streamers you save in Community, the support you send them (a message, a raid, a co-stream) and the Magic coins it earns, what you spend those coins on in the Store, and, if you link Discord, the Discord handle you choose to share with collaborators.
• Your subtitles. When you caption a stream, the subtitles that go on screen are saved with the time each one was said. Captioning saves text only, never audio, and it is deleted after 14 days.
• What your broadcasts showed. When you have a broadcast analysed for its clips, our servers fetch it from Twitch and read it. What we keep is a sentence per frame describing what was on screen, and a small thumbnail of each of those frames so you can see where to trim. A clip you download is cut from the recording and kept, so it doesn't have to be cut twice. All of it is deleted after 30 days. A record of each request made to read it, with its answer and what it cost, is kept for 90 days so a bill can be checked.
• Trackable links. The links you create and click activity on them, including counts over time, so we can show you how they perform.
• Technical and usage data. Sign-in session details such as IP address and browser; a count of the pages you view, made without cookies and without knowing who you are; and, only if you accept analytics, product-usage events linked to your account that help us understand which features are useful.

We use your data to:

• sign you in and keep your account secure;
• generate your recommendations, best times, plan, and channel metrics;
• match you with potential collaborators and help you reach out;
• create your trackable links and report their clicks;
• sync your weekly schedule to Twitch when you ask us to;
• maintain, debug, and improve the service, and understand aggregate usage (page views counted without cookies, anything more only with your consent).

We process your data to provide the service you asked for (performing our agreement with you), to pursue our legitimate interest in keeping Magic Mate secure, improving it and counting its visits, and, for analytics, on the basis of your consent. Where the law requires it, we rely on the appropriate legal basis for each purpose.

Magic Mate connects to third-party services to work. Your use of them is also governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and each provider processes data only on our instructions.

• Twitch. We read your channel data through the Twitch API and, with your permission, update your schedule. We only request the permissions the features need.
• Vercel. Hosts and serves the app, stores the files you upload (backgrounds and overlay files) and what we keep of a broadcast analysed for its clips, and provides cookieless traffic and performance measurement (Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights), which stops if you choose "Required only".
• Neon. Hosts our database, where your account, channel, and setup data are stored.
• PostHog. Counts page views without cookies and, if you accept analytics, measures how the app is used so we can see which features help. Stops entirely if you choose "Required only".
• AssemblyAI. Optional. Only if you pick cloud captions: your speech goes to their European servers to be turned into text, along with the quiet around it, for up to a minute after you start talking. Choose a speech model that runs on your own graphics card instead and no audio ever leaves your computer, though the subtitles it produces are still saved.
• OpenRouter. Only when you have a broadcast analysed: frames of it are sent through them to a model that describes what is on screen, and those descriptions go back through them to be read for the clips worth posting. Nothing else about you goes with them, and they aren't used to train anything.

Some of these providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses, to protect it.

We use a small number of cookies to keep you signed in and remember your choices. Without asking, we only count the pages you view, with no cookie and nothing stored on your device, and without knowing who you are. Analytics that show how you use the app only run if you accept them in the banner. Choosing "Required only" stops both, and you can change your choice at any time.

We don't sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers described above, when you choose to (for example, sharing your Discord handle with a collaborator), or when we're legally required to, such as to comply with the law or protect the rights and safety of our users and the service.

We keep your data for as long as your account is active and you use the service. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise the personal data associated with it, except where we need to keep some information to meet a legal obligation or resolve disputes. Your account and what it holds go at once, and the files you uploaded (backgrounds, overlay files, clips and their thumbnails) go in our daily cleanup, within a day. Disconnecting Twitch stops future data access.

We take security seriously: OAuth tokens are encrypted at rest, access to your data is scoped to your account, and connections are encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and to respond quickly if something goes wrong.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, object to or restrict certain processing, and receive a copy in a portable format. You can exercise many of these directly in the app by editing your setup or deleting your account, and you can contact us for anything else. If you have concerns, you may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Magic Mate is intended for streamers who meet Twitch's minimum age requirement. It isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone below that age.

As Magic Mate grows, we may update this policy. When we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top and, where appropriate, let you know in the app. Please check back from time to time.
