Privacy Policy
Last updated 11 July 2026
This policy explains what data Magic Mate collects when you use it, why we collect it, and the control you have over it. We've written it in plain language, because your data is yours.
1. The short version
Magic Mate reads your Twitch channel data to give you recommendations, a stream plan, collaboration matches, and trackable links. We collect what we need to run those features, nothing we don't. We don't sell your data. You can disconnect Twitch or delete your account at any time.
2. Data we collect
When you sign in with Twitch and use Magic Mate, we collect:
- Account details. Your Twitch identity, your display name, email address, and profile image, plus the OAuth access and refresh tokens that let us call Twitch on your behalf. Tokens are encrypted at rest.
- Channel data from Twitch. Public channel information along with follower and subscriber totals and your schedule, using the permissions you grant at sign-in. We use this to build your recommendations, best times, opportunity scores, and metrics.
- Your setup. The profile you create in Magic Mate, your coach name, mascot and theme choices, the categories you stream, your broadcast language, your audience-size baseline, and your weekly schedule windows.
- Collaboration data. Streamers you like or pass in Duo, your outreach progress, and, if you link Discord, the Discord handle you choose to share with collaborators.
- Trackable links. The links you create and click activity on them, including counts over time, so we can show you how they perform.
- Technical and usage data. Sign-in session details such as IP address and browser, and, only if you accept analytics cookies, anonymous product-usage events that help us understand which features are useful.
3. How we use your data
We use your data to:
- sign you in and keep your account secure;
- generate your recommendations, best times, plan, and channel metrics;
- match you with potential collaborators and help you reach out;
- create your trackable links and report their clicks;
- sync your weekly schedule to Twitch when you ask us to;
- maintain, debug, and improve the service, and understand aggregate usage (analytics only with your consent).
4. Why we're allowed to use it
We process your data to provide the service you asked for (performing our agreement with you), to pursue our legitimate interest in keeping Magic Mate secure and improving it, and, for analytics cookies, on the basis of your consent. Where the law requires it, we rely on the appropriate legal basis for each purpose.
5. Twitch, Discord, and the providers we rely on
Magic Mate connects to third-party services to work. Your use of them is also governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and each provider processes data only on our instructions.
- Twitch. We read your channel data through the Twitch API and, with your permission, update your schedule. We only request the permissions the features need.
- Discord. Optional. If you link it, we read only your handle so you can share it with collaborators. We don't send messages or friend requests on your behalf.
- Vercel. Hosts and serves the app, and provides privacy-friendly traffic and performance measurement (Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights), subject to your cookie choice.
- Neon. Hosts our database, where your account, channel, and setup data are stored.
- PostHog. Measures anonymous product usage so we can see which features help, subject to your cookie choice.
Some of these providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses, to protect it.
6. Cookies and analytics
We use a small number of cookies to keep you signed in and remember your choices. Analytics are optional: we ask for your consent with a banner, and if you decline, the anonymous product-usage tracking stays off. You can change your choice at any time.
7. How we share data
We don't sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers described above, when you choose to (for example, sharing your Discord handle with a collaborator), or when we're legally required to, such as to comply with the law or protect the rights and safety of our users and the service.
8. How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as your account is active and you use the service. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise the personal data associated with it, except where we need to keep some information to meet a legal obligation or resolve disputes. Disconnecting Twitch stops future data access.
9. How we protect it
We take security seriously: OAuth tokens are encrypted at rest, access to your data is scoped to your account, and connections are encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and to respond quickly if something goes wrong.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, object to or restrict certain processing, and receive a copy in a portable format. You can exercise many of these directly in the app by editing your setup or deleting your account, and you can contact us for anything else. If you have concerns, you may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
11. Children
Magic Mate is intended for streamers who meet Twitch's minimum age requirement. It isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone below that age.
12. Changes to this policy
As Magic Mate grows, we may update this policy. When we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top and, where appropriate, let you know in the app. Please check back from time to time.
